Joining as a master's or Ph.D. student
1. Read about the group
Review our research areas and projects, publications, and patents. The laboratory website describes the broader research directions. Read how we work and what you can learn to understand our approach to supervision.
2. Email the PI
Include all of the following required items:
- Your CV.
- Your transcript, with an English translation if needed.
- The journal paper you read from our publications, the topic you want to study, and how you would contribute to our research.
You may also include publications or relevant experience, and the scholarship you want to apply for. See the scholarship guide for options, including MEXT and Rotary.
Find the PI's email on the contact page. We do not reply to applications that omit the required items.
If your background and research goals fit our work, we may invite you to a Zoom or in-person meeting to discuss projects and funding opportunities.
3. Plan your funding
Read the scholarship information if you intend to apply for support. If you plan to fund your studies yourself, read about TA, RA, and part-time work.
4. Apply for admission
Once you have secured a scholarship or decided to fund yourself, apply through the university's graduate admissions portal.
Both programs are taught entirely in English:
Submit the required documents and send them to us by postal mail, such as EMS. After admission, the university will help with the Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) needed for your student visa application.
